You can get a top-of-the-line laptop when you enroll in college, but it’s not always easy to find which schools offer this perk. We’ve compiled a list of the colleges that give away a laptop for free or at least discount their price for students who enroll. These colleges want all of their students to be able to take notes on their laptops and connect with instructors through video conferencing.
Online Colleges That Give You Laptops
Colorado State University Global Campus
CSU-Global is a public, nonprofit institution with the following accreditation:
- Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). CSU-Global has been recognized as one of the top online colleges in America. The HLC is an independent corporation that serves as a national voice for quality and improvement in higher education. Their purpose is to continuously improve the quality, integrity and value of postsecondary education. The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accredits more than 1,000 degree-granting colleges and universities throughout North America that are engaged in educating students at every level from preprimary through doctoral study. Excelsior College
Excelsior College is a nonprofit and accredited college. The college offers online degree programs through its College for America program. Excelsior College also offers free laptops to students who are enrolled in their online degree programs, as well as free textbooks and other learning resources throughout their enrollment.
Indiana Wesleyan University
You can get a free laptop with your online degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. You’ll get the same laptop that students on campus receive, and you’re eligible for this deal as long as you’re pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at IWU.
The school offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree that’s available completely online and comes with a free computer. The program requires 120 credit hours in total, though there are no prerequisites for admission. The school also offers an MBA degree from its School of Business; this program requires 90 credit hours to complete and includes five years’ worth of study materials, including textbooks and other reading materials used by students on campus during their time at IWU. Both degrees require previous coursework in statistics before applying; however, international applicants must submit test scores instead of transcripts when applying for these programs through International Admissions Services (IAS).
Students pursuing postgraduate programs will receive substantially similar deals: they’ll receive one free laptop when they enroll in an online master’s or doctoral program through IAS’ Graduate Studies office
Walden University
Walden University is a for-profit university that offers online degrees. It was founded in 1970 and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Walden has branch campuses in Illinois, Massachusetts, New York and Wisconsin as well as study centers around the world including China, India and Singapore. The university specializes in areas like education administration; business management; finance; health care administration; human resource management; information technology; leadership studies; project management as well as social work among other fields of study.
Walden University has been approved by The National Association of Independent Colleges & Universities (NAICU) which requires them to uphold certain standards set forth by this organization such as maintaining rigorous academic standards while providing students with an affordable education option without sacrificing quality instruction or resources available on campus at traditional brick-and-mortar institutions
Johns Hopkins University
Johns Hopkins University (JHU) does not provide you with a laptop, but it does give you the option of purchasing one for use during your coursework. This is a great option if you’re on a tight budget and need to save some money for other expenses like textbooks or housing costs.

Southern New Hampshire University
Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) offers a laptop to students who are on the GI Bill, and they also offer a laptop to students who are not on the GI Bill. The laptops are both Dell Latitude models, with 15.6-inch screens.
Kaplan University
- Kaplan University is a for-profit university. It was founded in 1937 and is now located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Kaplan University has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1992, when it was first established as a separate entity (previously, Kaplan was an arm of DeVry University).
- The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools is another accrediting body that recognizes Kaplan University.
Here are some schools that give you a laptop to get your education.
- University of Texas at Dallas
The University of Texas at Dallas, or UTD, is a public research university in Richardson, Texas. The school was founded in 1961 as a graduate-focused institution but has since grown to become one of the largest universities in the state with more than 35,000 students enrolled today across its 13 colleges. UTD also has an online degree program that offers a variety of majors and even some master’s degrees completely online (including nursing and business administration). Students may choose to complete their entire degree from home or they can opt for hybrid classes where you attend class on campus one night per week while taking all your other courses online.
Students who are admitted into this program will receive access to a MacBook Air laptop computer once they begin their studies at UTD’s campus locations—and if you decide to enroll in an online course instead? No worries—the school says it will still provide laptops “as needed” through its Student Technology Services office!
