Independence University

Independence University is a great option for students who want to work toward a degree but can’t afford the tuition or don’t qualify for financial aid. WGU is a nonprofit, accredited university. WGU has more than 30,000 students and more than 100 online degree programs.

Capella University

Capella University offers a variety of grants. The school’s Academic Excellence Grant is available to students who have a 3.0 GPA or higher and complete at least 12 credits in the semester before the award is applied for, with no grade lower than C; it awards $2,000 per year for up to four consecutive years. Capella also offers its Endowed Scholarships Program, which funds qualified recipients based on academic merit and financial need.

The school offers various scholarships as well: Merit-Based Scholarships are awarded based on factors like GPA, SAT scores and high school curriculum; and Competitive Scholarships are awarded based on application materials such as résumés or essays that detail extracurricular activities or other accomplishments. The scholarships offered by SNHU depend on the student’s GPA and ACT or SAT score. The higher these are, the more likely you are to receive a grant from SNHU. In addition, military veterans who were honorably discharged are eligible for two additional grants: one at $1,000 annually and another that varies in amount depending on your major and course load.
