Associate of Arts in General Studies
The Associate of Arts in General Studies is a general degree designed for transfer to another accredited college or university. This degree may also be used as a first step towards earning a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or doctoral degree at the University of Alabama or elsewhere.
Master of Public Administration
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) is a terminal degree offered by the University of Alabama. The MPA program is designed to prepare students for careers in public service. The program is designed for students with a bachelor’s degree in any major.
All applicants must meet all admission requirements for the graduate school and apply through the Graduate School application process.
Master of Science in Nursing
The Master of Science in Nursing degree program at the University of Alabama is a 36-credit program that can take one to three semesters to complete, depending on your course load. The program requires 24 credits of core nursing courses and 12 credits of elective courses.
The total cost per semester is approximately $6,700, which works out to about $72 per credit hour. In addition, there are certain costs associated with taking the GRE exam, which may vary based on when you take it and where you live. The application fee for this test is $205 as of 2019; students who do not meet all requirements will be required to pay an additional nonrefundable processing fee for their applications or transcripts before they’re processed by UAB’s Admissions Office (upwards of $85).
You’ll also need health insurance if you don’t already have it through another provider or your job; luckily this cost shouldn’t affect your budget too much since most insurance providers provide basic coverage for free!
As far as other fees go: Students enrolled full time will pay an enrollment fee each semester ($100) and may also incur charges from their instructor if they’re audited ($250).
Master of Science in Human Environmental Sciences
The Master of Science in Human Environmental Sciences is a one-year, full-time program. It includes 24 credits, including 6 credits of research methods and statistics and a 12-credit internship that places students in community organizations or agencies. The remaining 18 credits are comprised of core courses and electives.
To be eligible to apply, you must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with at least a 3.0 GPA from the last 60 credit hours attempted, along with demonstrated experience working with human or environmental sciences.
RN to BSN Online Program
The online program is designed for students with busy schedules.
You can complete your degree in as few as 18 months and take classes when you want and where you want, making it a convenient option for students with family responsibilities or full-time jobs. The convenience of an online program also allows you to learn at your own pace without having to worry about traveling back and forth from class or staying up late studying each night. This gives busy adults the opportunity to further their education while maintaining their current work schedule, all while being able to balance other aspects of their lives that are important to them.
Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences
The Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences is a 120-credit hour program designed to educate students on the ways humans interact and affect the environment. The major areas of study include environmental science, geography, geology, geographic information science, hydrology and more.
Through this program you can earn an undergraduate degree that will allow you to pursue careers as an environmental scientist or professional geographer (among others). You’ll also be prepared for graduate school if you decide to continue your studies after earning your Bachelors.
Students interested in pursuing this degree must apply for admission both online and through the mail. Applications are due by May 1st each year. Admitted students may be required to submit official transcripts from high school or college as part of their application process. The UA does not require SAT/ACT scores for acceptance into its college transfer programs; however some departments within colleges may require them as part of their admissions process.
Post-Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education
The Post-Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education is a 30 credit online program. To be eligible to apply, you must have either:
- An RN license and an MA or BA in nursing or higher education (or equivalent)
- A PhD with an MA or BA in nursing or higher education (or equivalent)
If you are admitted to the program, you will complete 18 credits each semester for two semesters. This requires 30 credits total for the certificate. In order to graduate from this program, you must maintain a 3.0 GPA and pass all courses with a grade of “C” or above.”
