There’s a lot of information out there on the different design programs you can get and the careers they’ll lead to, but it can be hard to know what’s right for you. What if you don’t have a design background? How do you know which program will give you the best start in designing spaces? Well, I’m here to help! With so many options out there, we’re going to go over some of the best interior design programs in Ontario as well as some key things to consider when choosing your school. So let’s get started!

Interior Design Diploma 3 year program

Sheridan College offers a three-year, full-time Interior Design Diploma program at its School of Visual Arts. Graduates of this program will be awarded a diploma in interior design.

George Brown College also offers an Interior Design Diploma through its School of Design, which is offered both full time and part time. The school works with industry experts to ensure that students are prepared for their careers as professional designers upon graduation.

Centennial College offers an Interior Design diploma to students who complete their studies in just two years (four semesters), making it possible for them to graduate early and enter the workforce earlier than other programs would allow them to do so. Students enrolled in this program will receive hands-on experience working with artists, architects and other professionals while they learn how to create beautiful interiors using their creativity as well as technical skill sets such as drafting & rendering techniques or computer aided design software like AutoCAD® & SketchUp®

Bachelor of Interior Design 4 year program

A Bachelor of Interior Design degree is a 4-year program. The bachelor’s degree is a professional degree, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), that provides a generalist education in design with an emphasis on analysis and problem solving. The BID Program prepares graduates for entry-level positions as designers in professional interior design firms, or for more specialized work in corporate offices or retail environments.

Bachelors of Science in Interior Design (BSID) 4 year program

The BSID program is a four-year program that offers the Bachelor of Science in Interior Design (BSID) degree. Students will graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Interior Design, as well as being eligible to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam. The BSID curriculum includes many courses related to interior design theory and practice. Coursework covers topics such as color theory, space planning, and furniture selection along with other fundamentals of interior design practice. In addition, students may choose one of three concentrations: Residential, Commercial or Hospitality disciplines (each concentration has its own set of required classes).

There are a number of options when it comes to getting an accredited interior design education. The Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD), the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo and the University of Guelph all offer this program. All four schools are located in southern Ontario but accept students from across Canada.

The Interior Design program at OCAD requires two years (four semesters). During this time, you’ll learn about materials, processes and techniques for creating interiors that function well and meet client expectations. You’ll also learn how to work with professionals in related fields such as architecture and engineering to create spaces that fit their needs as well as yours.
