Osteopathic Schools That Dont Require MCAT

Osteopathic medicine is a form of holistic medicine that focuses on treating the whole person, rather than just the disease. Osteopathic physicians (DOs) are trained in primary care and can practice in all areas of medicine.

Many osteopathic medical schools do not require the MCAT as part of their admissions process. These schools may accept other standardized tests such as the GRE and PCAT, but they will still give preference to students with MCAT scores below a certain level. If you are not sure whether your MCAT score is competitive for DO schools, use our search tool to find out where you stand compared to applicants at each school.

Below is a list of all DO schools that do not require an MCAT score:

Osteopathic Schools That Dont Require MCAT

Osteopathic schools are some of the most selective in the country, but they also have some of the lowest acceptance rates. For this reason, many students wonder if it is possible to get into an osteopathic school without taking the MCAT. Although most schools do require the test, there are some schools that will consider you for admission without it.

The following is a list of osteopathic medical schools that do not require an MCAT score:

A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona

Barry University School of Health Sciences – Osteopathic Medicine Department in Florida

Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University (CCOM) in Illinois

Drexel University College of Medicine in Pennsylvania and New Jersey

Eastern Virginia Medical School – Old Dominion Campus in Virginia and Maryland

I’ve heard from hundreds of premed students who don’t want to take the MCAT. Some are worried about the cost and time commitment, while others have taken it once or twice already and don’t want to spend even more money on a third attempt. And some students don’t like taking standardized tests at all — they simply don’t enjoy it or they don’t do well on them.

If you’re one of these people, there are plenty of osteopathic medical schools that don’t require the MCAT at all! Here are some schools:

Alfred University College of Osteopathic Medicine

Barry University School of Osteopathic Medicine

Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine – Midwestern University

Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine – Des Moines

Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Carolinas Campus (VCOM)

Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Virginia Campus (VCOM)

Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences – Kansas City (KCUMB)
