The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa was established in 1848 as one of Canada’s first medical schools when it was known as the College Medical School. It was originally located at the corner of Rideau Street and King Edward Avenue before moving to its current location on Tunney’s Pasture in 1951.

Today, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa has an enrollment of about 1,300 students and offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The faculty also offers several medical residency programs for graduates who wish to pursue careers as physicians or specialists after graduation.
