Passion For Teaching Examples
I love my job. I have the best students and colleagues. I enjoy working with them every day, but it’s not always easy. Teaching is hard work, but it’s worth it when I see the lightbulb go off in a student’s eye or they finally understand something they’ve been struggling with for weeks.
Teacher Voice
One of the most important skills a teacher can develop is their voice. A teacher’s voice is what engages students and makes learning fun, interesting and relevant.
It’s all about finding your own unique style and then using it to connect with young people so that they want to learn from you.
Lecture Skills
- Use of PowerPoint, video and other visual aids
- Examples, anecdotes and humour to engage learners
- Props to demonstrate or highlight a point, such as handouts or models/toys.
- Music to set the mood and keep the class alert.
- Games that encourage group work, role play or simulations (mini-games in between lessons) are also useful. Quizzes at regular intervals can help test your students’ understanding.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of subject. This means knowing the content, or content areas, that you teach and how to best present it to your students. It also includes understanding the concepts, skills, and knowledge needed for mastery of that content; this is typically referred to as pedagogy.
- Knowledge of pedagogy (teaching methods). What are your preferred teaching styles? Do you use direct instruction or inquiry-based learning? What types of assessments do your students complete while they’re engaged in learning activities? How do you know if a lesson plan is effective?
- Knowledge of students (and their needs). In what ways can you help each student become more successful at school—beyond just meeting academic standards like reading on grade level or completing math homework assignments with no errors? How can you make sure every learner feels safe and supported while also holding them accountable for making progress toward meeting stated goals? Are there any accommodations that would make it easier for all learners in an inclusive classroom environment (e.g., assistive technology devices such as keyboards or voice recognition software)? What types of activities help different kinds of learners learn best (e.g., kinesthetic/tactile; audio-visual; written)?
Passion for Teaching
Teaching is a passion. It’s something you love to do because it connects you with people and makes them happy. You can be the one who encourages others to better themselves through knowledge, and change their lives for the better. It’s not just about making your students learn about mathematics or science; it’s about being able to give back in general, help make a difference in their lives, maybe even make the world a better place overall. Teaching is an opportunity to help people grow as individuals while they work toward becoming good members of society; it’s a way for you to help them reach their full potential as productive citizens by encouraging them through knowledge and practice.
Engage Students
You can engage students by using examples to help them understand, remember, relate to the material, and make connections between what they’re learning and their own lives.

You can use examples as a way of explaining complex concepts in a way that is easier for your students to understand. For example: “This is how water gets into our body—when we drink it or when we swim in it.”

Using examples as teaching tools helps students remember information better because they are able to connect what they learn with real-life experiences or situations. For example: “Remember when you were little? Your mom had you drink orange juice before bed every night because she said it was good for growing bones! She was right—orange juice has calcium which helps build strong bones!”

Create Community
One of the most important factors in a student’s education is their sense of community. When students feel part of a community, they have a place where they belong and can feel safe to learn from others.
When you create a classroom environment that fosters community, you are giving your students opportunities to work together as well as encouraging them to help each other learn. This creates a positive learning experience for everyone involved and encourages your learners to take responsibility for their own learning.
Contribute to Student Learning
- Teacher as facilitator
Teachers play a crucial role in the learning process of their students. They are facilitators, mentors, guides and leaders who help students develop their knowledge base by providing opportunities for them to interact with subject-matter experts. Teachers can also be coaches, role models or mentors. These roles are all important in helping students understand the curriculum and apply it in real-life situations.
I enjoy my job.
It’s important to have passion for teaching. If you don’t enjoy your job, it will be difficult to remain motivated. If you are not passionate about what you do, then it could be time to look for another career path.
However, if you love your job and everything that comes with it—the students, the subjects and even the teaching itself—then there’s no reason why anyone should doubt your ability to succeed as a teacher!
