Eligibility

To apply for a Russian government scholarship, you must:

  • be a prospective undergraduate or postgraduate student (with at least one year of prior study at university level) or a current undergraduate or postgraduate student; and
  • be aged between 17 and 35 years old.

Required Documents:

In addition to your application form, you need to submit the following documents:

  • scanned copy of birth certificate;
  • photo image with dimensions 4×6 cm (colour, glossy); and
  • scan of passport page containing personal data.

Application process:

Introduction – Applicants who do not hold an offer letter from a Russian university are required to apply for their chosen course first before applying for the scholarship. To check how to apply for your programme, click here. The online application platform will open in February but applicants may complete an expression of interest anytime after October 1st. Please also note that applications submitted after April 30th will not be considered. Required Documents – As part of the application process candidates are required to provide copies of academic transcripts, letters of reference etc which can all be uploaded via the online system after it opens in February. Interviews Successful candidates will then proceed towards an interview stage where they will meet with representatives from Rossotrudnichestvo and Russian embassy staff who represent Russia’s Ministry of Education and Science (MES). The interviews are usually held in person at one of Rossotrudnichestvo offices around the world but it is possible they could also take place virtually through Skype if no office is located near you. At this stage applicants may also be asked to complete further tests depending on whether they are applying for Masters/PhD programmes or Undergraduate/Dual Degree programmes

Russian Government Scholarships for International Students is a fully funded Scholarship. The Scholarship is offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (study in Russia).

The scholarship covers:

  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation at the expense of the Russian side
  • Stipend (according to a fixed amount)

Duration of the scholarship: From 01/09/2019 to 30/06/2020.

The applicants must demonstrate their high level of academic achievement and language proficiency.
