Fully Funded International Nurse Scholarships

IFNA (International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists) is offering four scholarships to international nurses or nursing students. The scholarship covers the tuition fees, a monthly stipend, housing, travel expenses and health insurance for the duration of your studies.

Open to: International students enrolled in a bachelor’s or graduate program.

Merck Unrestricted Educational Grants in Nursing Education

The Merck Unrestricted Educational Grant in Nursing Education provides scholarships for midwives. The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) offers a Student Scholarship to help students who are members of NAPNAP to pay for educational expenses.

  • This scholarship is available for students who are members of the American College of Nurse–Midwives (ACNM). It is awarded on an annual basis, at the Annual Meeting and Exhibition, to a student member who has made outstanding contributions to the field.
  • The ACNM Foundation also offers two scholarships available to midwifery students:
  • The Dr. Elizabeth Bing New Investigator Award supports research by nurses or midwives.

National Black Nurses Foundation (NBNF) – Mary Mahoney Award & Scholarship Program

The National Black Nurses Foundation (NBNF) – Mary Mahoney Award & Scholarship Program awards $3,000 to students who are currently enrolled in a nursing program with at least one full year of study remaining. To qualify for this scholarship, you must be an active member of the National Black Nurses Association.

Mary Eliza Mahoney was the first African-American professional nurse in the U.S., graduating from the New England Hospital for Women and Children’s training school for nurses in 1879. She did not let segregation stop her from caring for patients and advocating for those who could not speak up or defend themselves, even when she faced ridicule and rejection. Her legacy lives on through this scholarship.

Section: National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) Undergraduate Scholarships

The NBNA Undergraduate Scholarship of $3,000 is available to undergraduate students currently enrolled in a nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing (NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Eligible applicants must have at least one full year remaining in their program leading to a diploma, associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree in nursing. Students must demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. The application deadline is March 1. National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program & Loan Repayment program

The U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) offers funding to support students in training to become a nurse or nurse educator, as well as nurses seeking to advance their careers through graduate-level education. The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program awards tuition, fees, and other educational costs for up to four years of full-time study at accredited nursing schools. In exchange, recipients agree to work in critical-need areas of the U.S.—such as rural communities—for a minimum of two years after graduation. The NHSC Loan Repayment program funds two years of loan repayments for nurses who work in critical-need areas for a total of three years; licensed professionals can receive up to $50,000 through this initiative.

Section: American Indian Graduate Center Fellowships & Scholarships

The American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC) is a private non-profit organization that provides fellowships and scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students in health care. To be eligible for these awards, you must be an enrolled member of a US Federally Recognized Tribe, or a descendant of at least one grandparent or parent who is an enrolled member of a US Federally Recognized tribe. The AIGC also has fellowships and scholarships available for graduate students.

National League for Nursing (NLN) Undergraduate Scholarships

  • up to $1,000
  • scholarship program is open to senior-level undergraduate students admitted to a registered nursing program in good standing at an accredited NLN institution of higher education.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4-point scale, or the equivalent where applicable, for admission in the Fall semester of 2016 (or the Spring semester of 2017 for schools with only one annual admission cycle).

Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Nursing Scholarship for BSN Students

Eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants must be members of STTI.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a baccalaureate nursing program. Junior or senior level status is preferred.

Section:  University of California, San Francisco – Pre-Licensure MSN Fast Track Program Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to individuals who are committed to working in underserved communities, particularly in California. Eligible students must be from underrepresented groups, including students from low-income backgrounds and those who identify as Black, Hispanic, Asian, Pacific Islander and American Indian.

University of Washington – Global Improvement in Health and Safety Scholarships & Fellowship Programs

Awarded in conjunction with the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH), the University of Washington – Global Improvement in Health and Safety Scholarships & Fellowship Programs is available to nurses who are interested in improving the health and safety of people in low- and middle-income countries.

To qualify for this award, you must be a registered nurse or other healthcare professional who is interested in learning about current global health issues. You must also be working on your Master’s degree at a college or university.
