The Bright Futures Scholarship Program

Bright Futures offers four different awards:

• The Sunshine State Teacher Award (SSTA) offers full tuition plus fees (up to $634 per credit hour) as well as housing assistance ($2,000/year). You must be studying science, math or technology education in order to qualify for this award. It can also be renewed if necessary through your fourth year of study provided you maintain a 3.5 GPA or better on your course load each semester along with maintaining satisfactory student service hours during the summer months before returning back for another academic year.”

The Florida Prepaid College Plan

The Florida Prepaid College Plan is a tuition savings plan that allows you to lock in current tuition rates for future use at any of the 16 participating universities. To participate in this program, you need to purchase a minimum of one semester’s worth of prepaid tuition for your dependent(s). Each semester’s worth comes with two semesters’ worth of room and board. If you wish to include more than one dependent, there are additional fees associated with that as well.

The Florida Prepaid College Plan is also a 529 college savings plan, which means that any money invested in the plan can be withdrawn tax-free if used for qualified expenses (for example: tuition and books). If you decide not to use all the funds purchased through this program before your child graduates high school, they will convert into an annuity after graduation—meaning they will continue earning interest until they reach age 30 or until they withdraw all remaining funds at once.*

The Eckerd College John H. Sykes Science Scholarships

The Eckerd College John H. Sykes Science Scholarships are available to students studying science at Eckerd College.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
