Students completing the PhD program may have the opportunity to finish their studies in as little as three years. This can vary based upon enrollment status and when students choose to begin taking classes. For more information on potential deadlines for completion, contact the university you are interested in attending directly.

The PhD is considered a terminal degree, meaning it does not prepare students for further education beyond a doctoral level. The program is focused entirely on research and requires writing and defending an original dissertation at its conclusion. Masters degrees are often used as stepping stones into higher level education such as PhD programs or other advanced professional training programs like law school or medical school.
