Temple University is a public research university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Temple was founded in 1884 by Russell Conwell, a lawyer and Baptist minister who had served as the fourth president of the University of Pennsylvania. In 1882, Conwell came to Pennsylvania to lead the Grace Baptist Church while he began tutoring working class citizens late at night to accommodate their work schedules. These students, later dubbed “night owls,” were taught in the basement of what is now known as Degree Hall. After six years, Conwell believed that these students should have a place to congregate during the day. He sought out an old building called Franklin Hall (Renamed Temple College) on State Street near Broad Street where he established an academy for these workers.[6] After opening Temple Academy, Conwell moved his services back to Third and Poplar Streets in Philadelphia and started preaching at Friends’ Central School.[7] Between 1900 and 1920[8], some 17 different buildings were used for educational purposes; however so many different schools led to administrative difficulties for both staff and students.[9] The Board of Trustees then decided it would be best if one campus could serve all needs: therefore this campus was created – West Philadelphia Campus[10].

The main reason why I chose Temple was because it’s very close to home which means my parents don’t have far drive me back and forth each day (they live about 30 minutes away). Another reason why I chose this school was because I knew several people who had attended there before who told me how much fun it was; everyone loves going out together after class or working together on projects during class hours! Lastly though – I chose this school because they offer many different majors ranging from Computer Science alllllllllllll way down through Fashion Design! So whether your majoring in History or Business Administration – there are plenty other students like yourself who share similar interests.”
