Introduction

The Technical University of the Philippines (TUP) is the oldest school in the country offering industrial-oriented engineering and technology courses. Established in 1901, TUP has a student population of 15 000 and an academic staff of 600. There are three campuses: Taguig, Manila and Visayas. The focus is on technical and technological education, with programmes offered at undergraduate level.   • The Manila Campus is located in downtown Manila, near the National Museum of Fine Arts and Bonifacio Global City (BGC). This campus houses all undergraduate courses except for BS Biology & BS Information Technology. It also offers some graduate programs such as MBA, Master of Public Health and Doctorate of Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy or Audiology.
  • The Visayas Campus is located in Iloilo City on a sprawling 200-hectare land area with a rich history including World War II bunkers that can be explored by students today! The campus consists of five buildings: four academic buildings (named after trees) and one dormitory named after an animal – crocodile!

The university has grown from a small coeducational college established by the American colonial government in 1908 with fewer than 300 students to one of the country’s largest universities today with more than 50 schools offering degrees at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
