Activity Fee

The Activity Fee is $200 per semester and is charged to all students at The University of Texas at Austin. The Activity Fee supports the costs of student activities, such as student organizations and leadership development programs, that are not funded by tuition or state appropriations. The fee was established in 1982 by a vote of the University’s students, faculty and staff.

In addition to funding student activities, the Activity Fee also funds other services provided by the Division of Student Affairs including:

  • Counseling & Mental Health Services (CMHS)
  • Housing & Food Service (HFS)
  • Campus Recreation

Application Fee

The application fee is $50 and non-refundable. You can pay the application fee with a credit card, check, money order, or cash at any time during the process by visiting the Office of Admissions website.

You will be required to submit an official bank statement or wire transfer confirmation showing that you have $70USD available in your bank account as proof of funds from which we can deduct the cost of processing your application (tuition and other fees).

Housing Deposit

You’ll receive a housing deposit form in your MyUTClass email. The housing deposit is refundable if you cancel by July 5th or if you officially withdraw from UT Austin before midnight on June 30th (the last day of classes). You may also qualify for cancellation insurance coverage through your student-fee bill, which will reimburse you up to $300 if the University closes and cancels classes due to weather, strikes or other emergencies.

Please note that the cost of books and supplies is not included in the cost of tuition, room, board or other fees.

Campus & Student Services Fee

The Campus and Student Services Fee is a mandatory fee that is assessed on all students and is used to support the Student Services Division of the Office of the Registrar. This fee is used to fund student support services, including the Office of Student Financial Aid, the Office of International Student and Scholar Services, the Office of the Dean of Students, Longhorn Center for Academic Excellence (L-CAPE), Graduate School Orientation Program (GSOP), UT Austin’s Testing Center and more.

This fee is charged to students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Fine Arts, the College of Natural Sciences, the College of Education, the College of Pharmacy, the College of Business, the College of Nursing, the College of Architecture, and all graduate programs in these colleges.

Document Management Fee

The Document Management Fee is a one-time fee charged to all new students who have not previously been enrolled at UT Austin. It covers the cost of issuing official University ID cards, diplomas and transcripts for those who do not already have them.

Full-Time Program Fees

  • Full-time program fees include tuition, fees, and university housing.
  • Full-time program fees are for students taking 12 or more hours in a semester.
