UTSA is a public research university and is part of the University of Texas System. The main campus is located in San Antonio, Texas, with additional campuses in Edinburg and the Mexican border city of Ciudad Acuña. The institution was founded on June 5th, 1969 as Southwest Texas State University; it was renamed to its current name on April 4th, 2013. Currently there are around 30,000 students enrolled at UTSA.[1]
The institution currently offers 106 bachelor’s degrees as well as 75 master’s degrees and six doctoral programs across nine colleges.[2] As a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), it ranks among top 50 universities for research expenditures in North America.[3] In 2016 U.S News & World Report ranked UTSA as tied for 48th among all public universities while Forbes placed them at 60th overall among Best Value Schools getting into top 25%[4].

- Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences with an emphasis in Art and Design, which allows students to learn about different types of art and design while completing their degree.
- Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Studio Arts or Graphic Design, where students are able to explore their artistic side by focusing on a specific medium such as painting or drawing.
- Master of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Photography or Painting/Printmaking (traditional), where students can take classes that focus on the fundamentals behind creating works that are true to your personal style.

The College of Architecture, Construction and Planning (CACP) is a top-ranked academic institution at UTSA that offers more than 100 degree programs in architecture, construction science and management, landscape architecture, urban planning and real estate.

The Honors College brings together some of the most ambitious students in our university. The Honors College is a community of scholars, where professors and students work closely together to explore new topics, think critically about the world around them, and develop innovative solutions to society’s problems. Honors College students are admitted based on their high school records and standardized test scores (ACT or SAT). To be eligible for admission into the Honors College, you must:
- Be admitted to UTSA by completing an application for undergraduate admission during your senior year.
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 on either your high school or college transcripts at time of application for freshman entry into UTSA.

We founded Roadrunner Orientation in order to help you get ready for academics and life as a Roadrunner. Roadrunner Orientation is a week-long event that includes academic advising, student orientation, and other activities. These events give you an opportunity to meet your fellow students and become familiar with the UTSA campus.

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is a large public research university located in San Antonio, Texas. The university was established in 1969 as the Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center, but it wasn’t until the following year that it became a reality and began offering its first classes. As one of the fastest growing universities in the nation, UTSA has grown from its original enrollment of only 300 students to more than 50,000 students today.
The other main campuses are located at Blanco Road and Loop 1604 on the northwest side of town; Downtown Campus near Hemisfair Plaza; Main Campus at UTSA Boulevard on south side next to Heman Marion Sweatt Public School (which serves as an adult education center); South Texas College Of Law Houston Campus (located on Webster Street).
