University of Oxford
University of Oxford is a collegiate research university in Oxford, England. It is the second-oldest university in the English-speaking world and the world’s third-oldest surviving university. The University grew out of an association of scholars who left the University of Oxford after a dispute with the townspeople.
California Institute of Technology (Caltech)
California Institute of Technology (Caltech) is an independent, private, nonprofit, nonsectarian, coeducational, research university located in Pasadena, California. It has a strong undergraduate focus with a low acceptance rate.
Stanford University
Stanford University is a private research university in Stanford, California, adjacent to Palo Alto and between San Jose and San Francisco. The university was founded in 1885 by Leland and Jane Stanford, dedicated to Leland Stanford Junior.
In its early years the university was located on a campus on South California Avenue (renamed El Camino Real) in the heart of what is now Silicon Valley; it later moved to its current location. It has also been known as Leland Stanford Junior University since its inception but adopted the name “Stanford University” in 1896 when it began awarding degrees instead of certificates according to departmental affiliation (e.g., Civil Engineering).

It’s consistently ranked as one of the world’s top three universities.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private research university located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Founded in 1861 in response to the increasing industrialization of the United States, MIT adopted a European polytechnic university model and stressed laboratory instruction in applied science and engineering. Researchers worked on computers, radar, and inertial guidance during World War II and the Cold War. Post-war defense research contributed to the rapid expansion of the faculty and campus under James Killian’s presidency from 1949 to 1975. The current 168-acre (68 ha) campus opened in 1916 and extends over 1 mile (1.6 km) along the northern bank of the Charles River basin.
