Tufts has an acceptance rate of 13% for the Class of 2022.

Tufts University has announced the record-breaking application numbers for their undergraduate and graduate schools, as well as their dental school. They received 30,828 applications for the Class of 2022, which is an increase of 3% from last year’s numbers. This figure is also up 7% from the previous five-year average acceptance rate of 25,250 applications.

Tufts accepted 4,038 applicants out of those 30,828 applications and offered admission to a record 1,285 people in total (a 10% increase from last year). The admissions rate for the class of 2022 was 13%, which is up 2% from last year’s 11%. Their overall acceptance rate has been consistently sitting between 9–14% since 2012.

Pia Orrenius, dean of admission at Tufts said that although they were “slightly concerned” when they saw the overall trend in national acceptance rates rising a few years ago due to increased competition among students and universities (including their own), “we are not experiencing that at Tufts.” She continued by saying that their record number was most likely due to them maintaining “the same rigorous application process we have always used,” but it’s still too early to tell why exactly things look the way they do now. She did mention that she expects some change in these numbers when fewer students choose Early Decision I and II options next year because currently approximately 40 percent of them apply under this system where students can get a decision by November 1st—but that doesn’t mean that everything will be different though.

According to Pia Orrenius there are many factors they take into consideration while reviewing an application such as how well qualified each student seems on paper along with how each student would contribute to Tufts’ community once admitted but ultimately “the final decision comes down to what best fits our mission.”

With nearly 31,000 applicants vying for spots in the undergraduate class of 2022, Tufts University has a reputation for being an elite school with exceptionally high standards. With a total acceptance rate of just 18 percent, it’s understandable why many teens forgo applying to Tufts altogether in favor of the more accessible alternatives of universities such as Boston University (68%), Northeastern University (45%), or even Harvard and Yale. However, this shouldn’t deter you from applying.

Tufts is one of the most selective schools in the nation, but its difficulty in getting into shouldn’t be mistaken for lack of accessibility. The university currently has a record 30,828 applicants vying for 4,038 open spots in next fall’s class—a mere 9% acceptance rate. But that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to get into; it just means that you will have to work harder than you did when filling out your common app to stand out from the crowd.

Applicants must write 10 essays total: eight are short responses (no more than 250 words), one is a medium-length response (200 words or less), and one is a long essay (350 words or less).

Tufts is made up of the Colleges of Arts and Sciences; Engineering; Health Sciences; Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences; School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA); Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences; Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy; as well as the international campuses in Italy and China. It’s hard to be accepted at Tufts but it’s not impossible!

It’s important to define the problem before you start solving it. Before you can say, “I want to go to Tufts College and major in English,” you need to identify why you want to attend Tufts and what a degree in English will do for your future. Once you’ve formulated your goals, it’s easier to plan how to achieve them. As mentioned in previous sections, once you have an idea of what success looks like, putting together a timeline and some benchmarks will keep you on track as well as help keep your spirits high!

You have control over whether or not you achieve your goals. If anyone tells you that achieving something is impossible, don’t believe them. Anything that’s been done before has been done by someone who was just like the person saying it couldn’t be done now. The tools are there: all it takes is motivation and hard work. Reaching for something big doesn’t mean giving up everything else in life—if anything, it means making time for yourself while also including your friends, family, or partner as part of the process!
