The Cougars, who are returning their entire starting lineup from last season and adding freshman guard Isaiah Harris, have had a very up-and-down start to the year. UAV has won four games and lost six this season, going 2-3 at home.

The Cougars have already faced some tough competition in their first nine games, with road losses against San Diego City College (70-67) and De Anza College (62-59). The good news for UAV is that they’ve been able to play well against some good teams, beating El Camino College 77-53 on January 3rd and losing by just one point to Mount San Antonio College (61-60) on February 1st after a late comeback attempt by Mount Sac fell short.

UAV’s two wins against non-conference opponents came against Victor Valley College, who was ranked ninth in the state by NorCalPreps.com at the time of the game on November 19th; this victory put UAV at number eight in NorCalPreps’ rankings for both men’s basketball teams as well as all high school sports teams from around California.

They are currently on a three-game losing streak and will look to turn things around against San Bernardino Valley College on Saturday at 5 p.m. If they can win this game, it could help UAV get back on track before playing another tough conference opponent next week in Victor Valley College at home
