UB was also awarded an at-large bid because they had already earned some of their NCAA Tournament seed points by winning games against other tournament teams. The Bulls have now been invited to play in five consecutive tournaments, giving them more than enough points for an automatic bid this year.
The Bulls earned a No. 14 seed in this year’s Big Dance, which means they’ll face No. 3 seed Michigan State on Friday night at 9:40 p.m ET (ESPN). The Spartans are favored by 2 points according to ESPN’s BPI and KenPom ratings systems; however, UB has won all four meetings between these two teams over the last three seasons—including both regular season matchups between them last year—so don’t count out Buffalo just yet!
