University Of Dubuque Football Roster
The University of Dubuque football team, which competes in NCAA Division III and is a member of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC), has released its 2020 roster. The roster was compiled by athletic director, Bob Kniese, who said “I have been pleased with the talent we have attracted and am excited to see how these young men perform on the field.”

The first player on the roster is a quarterback from Riverside, Iowa. In high school, he played for the Riverside Rams at quarterback and was named 1st team All-State in his senior year after leading his team to a perfect record and state championship. In college and now in 2019, Jansen has been starting at quarterback for the University of Dubuque football team and shown great promise as an athlete with a bright future ahead of him.

Sharrod Smith, a junior college transfer that sat out the 2018 season due to NCAA transfer rules, is expected to be one of the stars for the Bulldogs in 2019. The Florida native comes from the American Heritage High School football team where he played cornerback and safety positions. In his senior year at American Heritage HS, he recorded 49 tackles with 3 interceptions and 12 pass breakups on defense while also contributing 1 touchdown rushing and 1 receiving touchdown offensively as well as 7 special teams tackles as a return specialist on special teams units during his senior year at American Heritage HS under head coach Curt Cignetti Jr..

Sean Duffy is a freshman defensive back from Council Bluffs, Iowa. He plays for the University of Dubuque football team and is a member of their secondary. Sean stands 5 feet 9 inches tall.

Jordan Straub, a sophomore defensive back from Zimmerman, Minn., and Becker High School in Minnesota.
Straub is 5-11 185 pounds and will be one of the key contributors to UD’s defense in 2019.

Ben Sorenson’s college football career began at the University of Dubuque, a Division III school in Iowa. He started all four years there, but he transferred to another school after his junior year.
At this point, you might be asking yourself: what are the benefits of playing college football? Well, that is a complicated question which I will tackle in a future article for this blog! In general, though, I would say that most people who play college football are motivated by the desire not only to succeed on the field but also to put themselves in position for professional opportunities off it if they can’t make it as pros themselves (like Ben has).

Robert Davidson is a junior wide receiver for the University of Dubuque football team. He attended Aurora Christian High School where he was an all-region and All-Conference selection at wide receiver his senior year. Outside of football, Robert also played basketball in high school and was named second team All-Conference as a junior and first team All-Conference as a senior.

Zack is a senior and will be starting at the placekicker position this season. He played all four years of high school football and was All-Conference in his junior and senior seasons. Zack played soccer all four years as well, earning four conference awards for soccer during his career at Scales Mound High School.

Sam De Vita is the starting quarterback for the University of Dubuque football team. He is from Lombard, Illinois and plays his home games at Glenbard East High School in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
There are a lot of great players on this team and I think they will have a good season.
