University Of Miami Football News And Rumors
The University of Miami football program has produced another great group of players who are ready for the NFL. Shaquille Quarterman, Ahmmon Richards and Michael Irvin are all seniors and have left their mark on the Hurricanes’ program. Quarterman will be remembered as one of the best linebackers in school history while Richards was a go-to target as a receiver during his time at UM. Irvin was another star player who made an impact at wideout before he moved over to defense in his final season with the team.
Shaquille Quarterman, Ahmmon Richards and Michael Irvin go to the NFL
Shaquille Quarterman, a senior linebacker, was a captain for the Hurricanes this season and was named to multiple All-ACC teams. He had 90 tackles in 2018 on his way to being named second-team All-ACC after being on the first team in 2017.
Ahmmon Richards is another Miami player who will be going pro early. The wide receiver was selected first team All-ACC as he led the Canes with 934 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last year.
Hurricanes offensive line coach Stacy Searels is leaving UM to take the same position with Georgia
Stacy Searels is leaving UM to take the same position with Georgia. His decision was met with sadness by many Canes fans, who have seen him as a beloved figure in the program for years.
Searels has been with the Hurricanes for 10 seasons and has been instrumental in helping build the offensive line into an NFL pipeline. He’s also coached two first round picks: Ereck Flowers and Jonathan Feliciano.
The move comes just days after UM head coach Mark Richt got a new contract extension that keeps him at Miami through 2020 and offers him $6 million over four years, plus incentives if he wins national titles or ACC championships.
Hurricanes hope to keep their trio of talented receivers together against LSU
The Hurricanes are looking to send a message to the NFL that they can play together in their final game of the season.
Ahmmon Richards, Lawrence Cager and Darrell Langham have been one of the most productive trios in college football this year, but with all three entering their senior years, it remains unclear whether or not they will be back next season.
The Hurricanes are hoping for a win over LSU on Friday night so that each player can go out with a bang and show off their talents for NFL scouts.
Hurricanes set to face off with an old friend when they take on LSU and running back Leonard Fournette on Sunday
The Miami Hurricanes (6-0) will face off with an old friend when they take on LSU and running back Leonard Fournette on Sunday. The undefeated Hurricanes are currently ranked 13th in the AP Poll, 15th in the Coaches Poll and 19th in both the FPI and Sagarin Ratings systems.
The Tigers (4-2) have won their last three games just like Miami has, but suffered a tough loss to Mississippi State earlier this season. Despite what the rankings say about both teams’ strength of schedule so far this year, this game is sure to be a good one.
Miami has been a source for NFL talent for quite some time and this year is no different. Three more names will join the ranks when the 2017 draft rolls around.
- Michael Irvin
- Ahmmon Richards
- Shaquille Quarterman
