Coconut Grove

Coconut Grove is a neighborhood in the city of Miami, Florida. It is a historic neighborhood and is known for its bohemian culture and its beautiful homes.

The history of Coconut Grove dates to the late nineteenth century when it was developed as an agricultural settlement. The name “Coconut Grove” was given by Dr. Henry Perrine who came down from Dinner Key every evening to teach his students about nature. In 1886 he planted coconut trees along Biscayne Bay at today’s Peacock Park which would later become one of the first tourist attractions in South Florida attracting people from all over America and Europe like Jules Verne who wrote about his visit in Paris le Monde (1889). In 1887 another Frenchman Armand-Louis Couillaud-Duruflé founded the Tropical Botanical Garden located within present day Watson Island where he collected plants from around the world including orchids, pineapples, bananas, yucca palms, guava trees as well as coconuts that were planted along Biscayne Bay making Coconut Grove one of only two places outside Southeast Asia where coconuts grow naturally without irrigation systems needed for other tropical climates such as Hawaii (the other place being Pohnpei Island).

South Miami

South Miami is a small, residential neighborhood located in the southwestern part of the city of Miami. It is located west of Coral Gables, and east of Kendall. South Miami was once part of Coral Gables until it became an independent city in 1926.

South Miami is within the Miami-Dade Public Schools system & has 2 elementary schools (Ferncrest Elementary School & Southwood Elementary School), 1 middle school (South Pointe Middle School) & 1 high school (South Dade Senior High School).

Pinecrest

Pinecrest is a neighborhood in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The neighborhood is home to the University of Miami’s main campus and has many shops and restaurants.

Key Biscayne

Key Biscayne is a small island located in Miami, Florida. There are lots of ways to get around on this small island. Bus service is available via Metrobus routes #1A & #92 every day except Sunday when service is provided by Tri-Rail commuter trains (Fares vary depending on whether cash or ticket/passes are used). If you want more freedom than public transportation offers then renting bikes would be an option as well (prices vary according to brand).
