Patient Care

We’re dedicated to providing exceptional care and increasing access to compassionate healthcare for every patient. In order to do this, we’ve focused on a few key areas:

  • Patient satisfaction – We want our patients to be happy with the services they receive at University of Missouri Healthcare. That’s why we regularly survey them and take action based on the feedback they give us.
  • Patient safety – Our goal is always 100% patient safety, but there are times when errors occur in our system that can lead to injury or harm (in other words: mistakes). If this happens, we investigate what happened so it doesn’t happen again!
  • Emergency preparedness – At UMHHC there could be an emergency at any time (even if you don’t think so), so we need everyone involved in an emergency situation—from doctors and nurses all the way down through housekeeping staff—to know exactly what their roles will be during different types of emergencies.

MUHC also has a university-based Children’s Hospital with an outstanding level of pediatric care and expertise.

The University of Missouri Health Care Children’s Hospital is a part of MUHC and has a university-based, nationally recognized pediatric program. It is accredited by The Joint Commission, the oldest and largest accrediting organization for health care organizations in the U.S., with more than 15,000 health care facilities nationwide.

The University of Missouri Health Care Children’s Hospital offers comprehensive services across all areas of pediatrics including:

  • A neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with state-of-the art equipment and specialists certified in their respective fields to give your child the best possible chance at survival
  • An outpatient clinic staffed by physicians who specialize in treating children with complex conditions such as asthma or diabetes
  • An emergency department that treats both non-life threatening illnesses such as colds/flu but also serious injuries such as broken bones
