The University of New York at Buffalo is a public research university with campuses in Buffalo and Amherst, New York, United States. It is commonly referred to as the University at Buffalo or SUNY Buffalo, though the name “State University of New York at Buffalo” is also used. The university was founded in 1846 as a private college, but in 1962 merged with the State University of New York (SUNY) system. By enrollment, UB is the largest institution in the SUNY system, comprising 27 percent of undergraduate students and 36 percent of graduate students.[1] As of Fall 2018,[2] there were 26 colleges within UB that granted degrees at all levels; these colleges offer over 300 fields for study across eight academic departments: Arts & Sciences; Engineering & Applied Sciences; Architecture & Planning; Education; Law

Admission

Admission is based on your academic performance, extracurricular activities and personal qualities.

To apply to the University of New York at Buffalo, you must submit an online application form along with the following:

• Completed application form (online)
• Official high school transcripts or GED score report
• Official SAT or ACT scores (for freshman applicants only)

Once you have submitted your application and supporting documents, you will be notified via email when it has been received by the Admissions Office.

Your file will then be reviewed by our Admission Committee to determine if you meet our minimum requirements for admission.

The number of faculty members with medical doctorates is 197.

The number of faculty members with professional doctorates (law or social work) is 110.

The number of faculty members who are also practicing professionals in their fields include: 1 architect, 1 dentist, 2 engineers, 4 lawyers and 9 veterinarians.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is a form of assistance that the University of New York at Buffalo provides for students who demonstrate financial need. The financial aid process involves completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine your eligibility for federal loans and/or grants, and any additional forms as required by UNYB. The FAFSA should be completed no later than March 1st every year in order to receive maximum consideration for all merit-based scholarships, grants and loans offered by the university.

The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships will assist in determining your eligibility based on your household size and income level as calculated from information provided by you on your application for admission or through other means if necessary; this may include verification with tax returns or other documentation such as W2 forms etc., which will be requested if necessary but not necessarily required at all times depending upon circumstances specific to each case (see “Verification” below). Both first-time freshmen students*and transfer students*are required to complete this process regardless if they are eligible under normal criteria set forth by federal law requiring FAFSA submission deadlines each year prior submitting other required documents such as verification materials needed (if applicable) before finalizing their awards package which includes both financial aid packages including scholarships/grants–if any based on merit only–plus student loans up until completion date specified above without penalty attached.”
