The USF Men’s Basketball Team is currently playing at a high level. The team has won 9 games in a row. They are currently ranked No. 15 in the country, and their record is 11-3. The team also has been ranked No. 2 in the Midwest Region for most of the season as well, which means that they’re doing pretty well with all things considered!
Sioux Falls, SD – The No. 15th ranked University of Sioux Falls men’s basketball team will play against No. 2 ranked Dakota Wesleyan University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Stewart Center.
Dakota Wesleyan University is a private, Christian institution of higher learning located in Mitchell, South Dakota. The university was founded in 1887 and is affiliated with the Wesleyan Church.
The Stewart Center is one of the biggest venues in Sioux Falls and can seat up to 5,000 people for concerts or other performances. It also hosts many sporting events year-round including basketball games for both UNF and USD.
Wednesday night’s game will be broadcast on ESPN+ at 7 p.m., so mark your calendars!

The men’s basketball team is ranked 15th in the NAIA coaches poll and have a record of 8-5. They have a conference record of 2-1, non-conference record of 6-4, home record of 1-1 and away record at 5-3.
The Cougars are led by junior guard Rylan Sandoval who is averaging 19 points per game on 45% shooting from the field and 40% from beyond the arc. Freshman forward Rylan Sandoval Jr., who is also his son, is averaging 12 points per game on 50% shooting from two point range while junior guard Tanner Nelson has been one of the top defenders in all of NAIA basketball this season with 33 steals in just 11 games played while playing point guard for USF’s uptempo style offense which sees him average almost five assists per contest as well as being their primary ball handler when he isn’t dishing it off for an open three pointer or driving baseline for a layup attempt himself (he’s averaging 7 rebounds per contest).

The USF men’s basketball team is playing some excellent basketball this season, with their 15th-ranked ranking being their highest ever in program history and their 9-1 start to conference play being their best since 1999-2000 when they were also 9-1 in conference play (that season they went on to finish second in The Summit League). Both teams play again at 7 p.m., Wednesday night at Sanford Pentagon as part of “College Hoops for Kids” Night featuring $3 tickets for youth attending either game with an adult ticket purchase!

- USF shot 36.5 percent (14/39) from distance in the game, including a 6-of-17 effort in the first half.
- The first quarter saw both teams struggle offensively, shooting just 28 percent and 26 percent respectively with neither team leading by more than five points at any point during the opening period.
- The second quarter was more of the same as neither squad could find its rhythm on offense, with Southwest Minnesota State holding an 18-17 lead heading into halftime thanks to two three pointers from senior guard Charlie Van Rossum late in the second quarter.
USF Men’s Basketball Team is playing well this season
The USF men’s basketball team is currently ranked 15th in the NAIA. They have an overall record of 18-4, and are ranked 2nd in the Dakotas. The Fighting Sioux are also first in Sioux Falls, SD!
