The Tennessee men’s basketball staff is headlined by head coach Rick Barnes and associate head coach Rick Majerus. Barnes has been a head coach since 1988 and has led his teams to a record of 546-249 (.668). Majerus has been a head coach for just over two years and has an impressive record of 43-11 in that time (68%). Both coaches have had success at previous stops; Barnes at Tulsa and Majerus at Utah State. The assistant coaches are also experienced professionals with experience at both the Division I level and the college level. Kelvin Sampson was an assistant coach at Duke under Mike Krzyzewski for four seasons before joining Barnes’ staff at UT in 2013, while J.P. Prince coached at Oklahoma under Lon Kruger from 2003-06. Softball Staff
The University of Tennessee Softball staff includes head coach Kerri Duncan, assistant coaches Kelley Gill and Rebekah Rogers, trainer Deirdre Thomas and recruiting coordinator/player personnel director Sarah Howell. Duncan has been the head coach at UT since 2003 and has led the team to a 334-231 record in that time. The Vols have made five appearances in the Women’s College World Series (WCWS) and two appearances in the Women’s College Athletic Association (WCAA) Tournament. In 2016, UT captured its first WCWS championship with a 5-1 victory over Oregon.

Head Women’s Basketball Coach
The University of Tennessee athletics staff directory features head women’s basketball coach Holly Warlick. Warlick began her coaching career at the Division III level with Abilene Christian. She has since been promoted to head coach at the NCAA Division I level where she has led the Lady Vols to back-to-back Elite Eight appearances in 2010 and 2011.
Warlick is a three-time Conference USA Coach of the Year (2009, 2010, 2011). She was also named the 2009 Naismith National Coach of the Year.
Head Men’s Basketball Coach

Coach Barnes has been the head coach of the Volunteers for the past 10 seasons and has led UT to three NCAA Tournament appearances, two Final Four appearances, and one national championship in 2008. Athletic Trainer
Kristi Finney, A.T., C.T.
Kristi Finney, A.T., C.T., has been the athletic trainer for the University of Tennessee since 2012. She also serves as the team’s primary expert on sports medicine and injury prevention. Prior to her arrival in Knoxville, Finney worked as the associate athletic trainer at Eastern Illinois University from 2007-2012. There, she helped develop the school’s first sports medicine and injury prevention program and served as the team’s primary medical consultant. Finney earned her bachelor of science degree in exercise science from Eastern Illinois in 2006.
Strength and Conditioning Coach
The University of Tennessee Strength and Conditioning Coach, under the direction of Dr. Brent Vina, provides leadership for the department’s athletic training, sport science and physical therapy services.
The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for providing leadership in the area of sport science for all intercollegiate athletics programs at UT. This includes oversight of all strength and conditioning programming for football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, softball, track & field, cross country/track & field, volleyball and equestrian. In addition, the Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for providing clinical consultation to all athletes within these sports programs. In addition to clinical guidance and oversight of athletic training staffs, the Strength and Conditioning Coach also serves as a resource to the department on best practices in strength and conditioning.
The Strength and Conditioning Coach at UT has over 20 years of experience working with athletes from all levels of competition. Prior to joining the UT staff in 2006, he served as the Director of Football Performance Services at Ball State University where he was responsible for leading the football program from Division I-AA to FBS status.
