Employees may be eligible for the following benefits:
- Pension Plan
The University of Texas at El Paso offers a comprehensive pension plan that is designed to provide retirees with the security and peace of mind that comes with a guaranteed income for life. The plan’s design emphasizes stability and longevity, while providing a valuable vehicle for retirement savings. The plan allows you to contribute up to 15% of your salary each year, depending on which tier you are in (Tier I or Tier II). There are also employer contributions into the plan; these are determined annually by an actuarial study performed by an independent actuary based on market conditions during that time period.
The University participates in TRS-ActiveCare Health Insurance Program which allows employees who have been enrolled in the program at least 90 days prior to illness or injury and have satisfied all waiting period requirements to receive medical coverage without any waiting periods or co-payments when they use providers under TRS-ActiveCare. You can enroll during Open Enrollment which occurs every fall semester

The Office of Human Resources (OHR) at UTEP staffs approximately 250 positions including faculty, administrators and support staff who provide vital services across campus. OHR is responsible for recruiting new employees; processing personnel transactions such as hiring/recruitment activity; administering benefits programs; providing training on HR topics such as sexual harassment prevention training; developing procedures related to payroll processing and maintaining employee records in accordance with federal laws such as ERISA regulations.

Faculty Salary Scales
Faculty must be paid according to a salary schedule that is designed to attract and retain the best faculty members. Salaries are based on years of service and rank, with salary scales reviewed annually by the President and Board of Regents.
- The minimum annual base salary for all full-time faculty is $41,000 (effective July 1, 2018).
- Full-time faculty members who teach at least one course per semester receive an additional 2% increase in their base pay each September 1st until they reach teaching rank level 8 or above.
