The University of West Florida baseball team has won four games in a row, and it is set to begin regular season action this weekend when it hosts East Central for a three-game series that begins on Friday at Jim Spooner Field.

1 UWF (4-3) was led by senior catcher Drew Faintich, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Drew Faintich is a senior catcher and one of the team leaders in batting average (.500), RBI (7), hits (10) and runs scored (10). A native of West Palm Beach, Fla., Faintich played one year at Gulf Coast Community College before transferring to UWF.
In addition to his contributions at the plate, Faintich has been impressive behind it as well. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder sports a .982 fielding percentage in 11 starts at catcher.

The Wolves are ranked ninth nationally in Collegiate Baseball’s NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll released last week and are currently on an eight-game winning streak after dropping two out of three contests against Auburn Montgomery last weekend. The Delta Devils, who have won 11 consecutive games dating back to last season when they captured the Gulf South Conference Tournament title before advancing to their first NCAA Division II Regional appearance since 1999 (when they lost to Valdosta State), are 7-0 all time versus Western Michigan teams; however, both meetings took place before WMU moved from NCAA Division II into Division I following the 2011 season
