GMAT
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The exam assesses your academic ability, English language ability and aptitude for business. All three components are used to determine if you’re eligible for admission into a graduate management program of study. If you score above a threshold score, you’ll be offered an interview at your institution or school of choice; if not, they may invite you back to take it again in the future. However, most schools require that applicants achieve a minimum score before being considered for admission.
The average GMAT score for students attending UW Madison is 660 and the average GPA is 3.52.

If your scores are below the averages for this school, you may want to consider taking some time to prepare for your admissions interview or brushing up on your math skills. Consult a tutor if needed, but also use our guide to help you identify where you need improvement in order to increase your chances of being accepted into UW Madison’s business school:
- The GMAT is an adaptive test, so it’s important that you answer every question. Try not to leave any answers blank because they will be marked wrong regardless of whether they were correct (see next point).
- If there are multiple answers that seem plausible, try all of them before moving on—some questions have more than one correct answer. This will give you extra points if both answers happen to be right!
