The ranking, based on earning potential of the graduates, ranked the UT Dallas Computer Science Department as the ninth-best college for students to acquire a Master’s Degree in Computer and Information Science. Students who graduated with a Master’s Degree in Computer and Information Science from the top 50 schools listed had median starting salaries between $62,100 and $119,900. Students who graduate with a master’s degree in Computer and Information Science from UT Dallas earn a median salary of $88,100.
The Grad Reports list highlights the best 25 colleges with a Master’s in Computer and Information Science in order of highest median salary one year after graduating with a Master’s in Computer and Information Science. Grad Reports rankings are the first to be based on median early-career salary data of over 5 million graduates from the U.S. Department of Education’s resource, College Scorecard. This helps students make a cost to benefit analysis before choosing a school and major.
To be considered for Grad Reports Best Colleges program rankings, universities needed to have a reported median salary and an unsuppressed sample size for graduates for the degree program of the ranking list. The CS Department at UT Dallas has done well in research-based rankings such as csrankings.org, where it ranks 7th in the area of natural language processing, 5th in the field of software engineering, 11th in artificial intelligence, and 6th in real-time systems (2009-2019 period). More recently, the website Best Computer Science Schools ranked the 25 Best Colleges to earn a Bachelor’s in Software Engineering Degrees placing UT Dallas Computer Science Department as the ninth-best college.
