The school was founded as Cincinnati College by local pioneer settlers who organized their fund-raising efforts by subscription.[5] In 1819, however, before Cincinnati College opened its doors at a location on Miami Road near what is now Downtown’s Public Landing,[6] classes were started at other locations around town including some in Red Bank Baptist Church[7] and the home that would later become Music Hall.[8] The main building on campus today was built between 1929-1930 to replace Old McMillan Hall after it burned down on April 12th 1930,[9][10][11].
