DESCRIPTION.
The windle trust scholarship is an international scholarship founded in the year 1996. The trust started off as a small operation in Nairobi Kenya and has grown to have branches in Uganda, Sudan and Somalia. The windle trust scholarship is an international scholarship program that offers international students the opportunity to study in any country of choice with little or no tuition fee. The program helps refugees and internally displaced people by offering them scholarships to study abroad or nation side. To be eligible for this award you must be a permanent refugee, internally displaced person or asylum seeker at the time of applying for this award.
AWARD.
The Award
The award is available to any refugee or asylum seeker currently registered with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The award will be funded by the University of Bradford which will cover tuition fees and help towards living expenses, accommodation and travel costs. Successful applicants can choose to study either a Master’s degree or a PhD at the University of Bradford.

FIELD OF STUDY.
Applicants can be applying for Master’s level or Doctoral level study.
Note: Applicants who are currently studying in their second year of study will not be considered, unless they are undertaking a research-based program that requires more than two years to complete.
HOST NATIONALITY.
The University of Bristol, the University of Cambridge, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Oxford, the University of Warwick, the University of York and King’s College London.
ELIGIBLE NATIONALITY.
Eligible Nationality
You must be a national of any country who must have been offered admission into a university in their home country.
Also, you must be a national of any country who must have been offered admission into a university in any foreign country of your choice.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS.
- The scholarship covers full tuition fees for one academic year.
- The scholarship provides accommodation and day-to-day subsistence costs of up to £100 per week.
- The scholarship covers the cost of an economy return air ticket from the scholar’s home country (where their principal residence is) to the UK for each academic year. In the case of East African students, a return flight to Dar es Salaam will be provided instead.
- A one-off book allowance of £500 will be provided at the beginning of your course
- Scholars are required to return to their home countries after their studies unless they obtain a work permit through other means.
