President’s Scholarships for Academic Excellence

The University of Winnipeg offers President’s Scholarships for Academic Excellence to students entering any full-time degree program from secondary school. Students must have outstanding academic performance and demonstrate significant extracurricular or community involvement. The value of the scholarship is $5,000. To apply, submit an application to the university by November 1.
International Merit Scholarships
You are considered for this scholarship based on your admission average. The highest-ranking students will be awarded in their first semester at the University of Winnipeg.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you don’t need to apply for this scholarship; it will be automatically awarded to you once you are accepted into the university.
The deadline for application is November 1st.
The amount and duration of a merit scholarship is determined by your admission average:
- 95% or above and up to 94%: $4,000 [scholarship] per year for four years

Entrance Scholarship Opportunities
- Entrance scholarships are awarded to students on the basis of grades and other specific requirements. These scholarships are valued at up to $1,000 each. Awards will be distributed in September of each year.
- Eligibility is based on final transcripts received by June 30th, with no conditions or exclusions applied to your application.
- There is no special application for entrance scholarships. All students who meet the required admission average and deadline for applications will automatically be considered for an entrance scholarship based on their academic standing within the overall pool of applicants. The number of awards offered varies from year to year depending on funding available and changing applicant pools. Applicants may also be considered for other university administered external and donor-funded awards offered by Winnipeg that require a separate application process (see below).

The University of Winnipeg offers a range of scholarship and bursary opportunities to help support our international students financially while they are studying at UWinnipeg. The University attracts some of the best and brightest applicants from around the world, and we want to recognize their achievements.
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be International or non-Canadian student who is required to obtain a Study Permit visa before arriving in Canada.
- Students already in Canada with a valid Study Permit can apply for these awards as well (Note: If you are currently in Canada on another type of visa, you must receive your Study Permit prior to beginning your studies at UWinnipeg).
- Applicants must have an 80% average or above from their previous institution, or obtain minimum test scores set by UWinnipeg (IELTS 6.5 bands with no band less than 6; TOEFL 600 paper based; 250 computer based; 100 internet based).
