The Ministry of Education is offering scholarships to masters students for the 2020/2021 academic year.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is offering scholarships to masters students for the 2020/2021 academic year. The scholarships will be awarded in three categories:
- Scholarships for Tanzanians who have completed undergraduate studies at a recognized university in Tanzania; are applying to study at a Tanzanian university; and are studying one of the following fields: education (including special education), science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or computer science
- Scholarships for Tanzanians who have completed undergraduate studies in any field at a recognized university outside of Tanzania; are applying to study at a Tanzanian university; and are studying one of the following fields: education (including special education), science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or computer science
The scholarship is available for all Tanzanians pursuing their masters degree either local or abroad and wish to pursue masters in specific fields.

The scholarships are being offered by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Tanzania in collaboration with the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB).
Eligibility Criteria:
- All Tanzanian citizens who have completed their undergraduate studies in Tanzania are eligible to apply.
- You can apply for a scholarship for a master’s degree either in Tanzania or abroad.
- Application is open for all Tanzanians who have completed their undergraduate studies at University of Dar es Salaam, University of Dodoma, Ardhi University, Sokoine University of Agriculture and other universities accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE)
There are several fields that have been targeted by the ministry.

The scholarship is only available for Tanzanians who have completed their undergraduate studies in Tanzania.

The scholarships are only for students who studied in Tanzania. Scholarships are also available for students who studied outside the country.
Students who will be shortlisted will get their fees paid by the ministry of education through their respective universities.
You will be able to focus on your studies. The ministry of education, through the Tanzania commission for universities, will pay all your fees directly to your university. Your tuition fees and other costs associated with studying at the university will be covered.
This includes tuition and other fees that the university requires you to pay including your research funds and funds to cover accomodation and living expenses while studying at the university.

This scholarship is only available for those doing masters degree in specific fields that have been identified by the ministry of education and these are science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM).
As a student, you have to have a good GPA and be ready to commit yourself to the course that you are studying.

The aim of giving students scholarships in these areas is because this is where the focus of development needs to be. This is where we need more researchers and experts who can take our country forward. If you are not doing your masters in any of these fields then you will not qualify for the scholarship. However, there’s no need for panic if your work does not fall into any of these categories because there are other scholarships offered by different institutions such as world bank, DAAD etc

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS:
This scholarship is specifically for students who are enrolled at one of the public universities in Kenya. It is a loan scheme that covers tuition and is awarded on merit. The students, who will be selected from the eligible applicants, must all be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in areas related to science, technology and innovation like engineering, medicine and agriculture. However much this scholarship may not cover other costs such as food or accommodation, it offers an opportunity to study in any public university within the country without having to worry about tuition fees.
Scholarships are available for courses in certain fields
Scholarships are available for Master’s students in Science, Technology and Engineering to study at Japanese Universities for the academic year 2020.
Scholarships are also available for Master’s students to study in the fields of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Biology, Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences; Information and Communications; Chemistry, Materials and Manufacturing Processes; Mathematics and Physics.
The scholarships are only open to Tanzanian students. Scholarships cover tuition fees, living expenses (120,000 yen per month), research costs (140,000 yen per year) and travel expenses.
