Before you fall down laughing at us, let us explain: we didn’t just look at rankings and reputation like most of these “Best” and “Worst” lists tend to do. We actually went inside each school and took notes on what it was really like. So here’s what we found…
The Worst Medical School In The World: St. Jude’s University (Mankato, MN)
This tiny university is located in Mankato, Minnesota–which is pretty much right smack dab in the middle of nowhere (and no offense). There are only two buildings on campus: one for administration and one for classrooms/labs/etc. And yes–there is literally only one building on campus that has an elevator!

Worst Medical School In The World
The worst medical school in the world is the University of Medical Sciences and Technology (UMST) in Kumasi, Ghana.
UMST is located in a small town with a population of around 500,000 people. There are only two major hospitals in Kumasi, both of which are run by the government. The first hospital opened its doors in 1869, while the second opened its doors in 1892. The first hospital is called Komfo Anokye Hospital, which specializes in obstetrics and gynecology. The second is called Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, which specializes in surgery and medicine.
The medical school itself was founded in 2000. It currently has about 2,000 students enrolled at any given time. Most of these students come from Ghana or Nigeria; however, there are also some from neighboring countries like Mali and Liberia as well as further away places like Ethiopia or Kenya–and even one student from Canada!
UMST’s campus is located on the northern side of Kumasi city center near Kwame Nkrumah Circle (named after Ghana’s first president). It has several buildings: one for administrative purposes; one for student housing; one for faculty offices;
The world’s worst medical school is the University of Santo Tomas (UST). It is located in Manila, Philippines. The University of Santo Tomas has one of the worst reputations for medical education. It has been ranked “worst” for three consecutive years by the Medical Board of Australia. In addition, it was also ranked as one of the worst medical schools in the world by Quackwatch and World Health Organization.
The worst medical school in the world is the University of Ghana Medical School.
The University of Ghana Medical School was founded in 1949 and has been around for nearly 70 years.
The University of Ghana is located in Accra, Ghana.

It offers courses for undergraduate students who want to become doctors or nurses, and it also offers postgraduate courses for those who have already graduated from other universities with degrees in medicine or nursing.
The university has a beautiful campus that overlooks the Gulf of Guinea and provides a wonderful view of Accra city.
The university’s motto is, “Knowledge and Service,” which reflects its mission of teaching students how to serve humanity through their knowledge of medicine and science.
You’ve just been accepted to the worst medical school in the world. Congratulations!
You may be wondering how we make that determination. Well, it’s simple: we have a team of doctors who rate each school on its ability to provide a quality education and prepare students for an exciting career in medicine. These doctors are chosen based on their experience and skill level, as well as their love of medicine.
Our ratings are based on 3 factors:
1) The quality of teaching staff at each school. We look at how many years they’ve taught at this institution, whether or not they’re licensed in any other states or countries, and what kind of recommendations they have received from those who have taken classes with them in the past.
2) The curriculum offered at each institution—how rigorous it is, if there are any gaps between classes (if you come into one class with knowledge from a previous class that isn’t covered), etcetera.
3) The number of graduates from each school who go on to become successful physicians after graduating from medical school themselves; this includes research fellowships and residencies at top hospitals around the world (like Johns Hopkins).
