Being able to afford college is a serious problem for many people in the U.S. as tuition and fees are continuing to rise.

A college education is increasingly becoming an expensive prospect. A recent report by the College Board shows that between 2014-15 and 2018-19, the cost of tuition plus room and board increased by 15% at public colleges and universities, and by 11% at a private college or university. These increases outpace inflation, which was not quite 3% over this period. This means that many more people are finding it hard to afford sending their children to college without taking on large amounts of debt.

These rising costs put students in a tough position as they have to balance their future education with the immediate need for money to pay for other expenses like housing and food costs while in school. While it’s true that there are federal grants available based on family income levels, they only cover a fraction of the total cost. Many students end up having to take out student loans in order to pay for their education, which can be crippling when trying to start a career after graduation as they’re often saddled with thousands of dollars worth of debt before making any money themselves

The WU International Scholarship was created to help students who have a desire to pursue their education, but lack the financial funds to do so.This scholarship is funded by Western Union International Co., which has the goal of helping high school graduates and university students who have been displaced by conflict or disaster.
